EMRAX motor in Audi / Volkswagen transmission gear

We are working on the electric Audi TT project. We have decided to convert standard combustion Audi TT  2.0, 150 kW into electric version. This will also enable us to test the motor in an EV application. Electric Audi TT will have the same characteristics as combustion Audi TT. We will use EMRAX 268 High Voltage motor (developing), which will fit perfectly in the transmission gear housing. In the pictures is transmission gear with EMRAX 228 High Voltage - we will use it for the first tests. Motor will be mounted directly on the main shaft of the transmission gear. We have 2 options for exchanging the gear ratio:

  • Exchanging can be directly mechanicaly (as it is common in the combustion cars), this is possible because the rotor weight of EMRAX motor is very low (5,5 kg).
  • Exchanging can be electronical, because the controller can read the rotations on the motor and also on the transmission gear for each step, because the gear ratios are known. So in this case the classic transmission gear becomes automatical transmission gear.
