About Us
Enstroj is a company which is devoted to technological development, production and sale of high-powered, low-weight, high-efficient EMRAX electric motors, controllers and other electric components (chargers, balancers ...)
The company's manufacturing facilities are located at Radomlje, near the capital of Slovenia – Ljubljana.
Products quality is based on the years of experiences, knowledge, care for natural environment and future-focused view.
Enstroj holds the patent for the EMRAX electric motors. Patent no.: P-201000114.
History
Enstroj company was established in 1991. Since then it has been producing and developing unique innovative objects for many different organizations – TV stations, theatres, opera ... Firstly many products have been made for self use and then became the selling products - for example: cars, transmission gears, electric propulsion system.
In the year 2000 we directed into electric motor development, because there was no suitable electric motor in the world market for our application – electric glider plane. After years of researches and tests of the motor, we reached our goal - in 2009 we developed the prototype of world's first high-powered, low-weight, high-efficient electric motor, named EMRAX motor. The EMRAX motor was improved at the beginning of 2010. After last tests we started serial production, which brought favorable prices.
Today we are working with a number of manufacturers to provide electric motors and components for electric systems (electric drives for planes, cars, boats, wind fields ...).
Other products in the past
Before we started electric motor development, we had been producing and developing unique innovative objects for many different organizations – TV stations, theatres, opera ... We had been also producing other innovative products - cars, transmission gears. All of these products were made by Roman Susnik, who is director of company Enstroj.
Here are some examples:
Unique sport cars
In 1985 it was impossible to buy a special unique sport car for affordable price.
So Roman Susnik made it by himself.
He says: “In the beginning when I was preparing the plans – I had many ideas about the shapes and which spare standard parts from other cars I could use to include in my project. First I decided to use many parts from Zastava 101. Later I improved a few things on my project, so I used the motor and some other things from Volkswagen - public car Golf turbo diesel. The shape of the car was built from polyester substance with fiberglass. Twenty-six pieces were fixed on the fundamental iron construction. This construction was the fundament for the motor, transmission gear, wheels and other necessary things too. The car looked perfect and it was the first car in Slovenia which had a unique sport design. I got the first price on the public exhibition in 1990. I made some improvements on projects for many types of cars - especially on sport cars in that time. So I made another special car which is called “ avtocross “.”
Hydroelectric power stations
Saving the energy - Why not? – If we are doing things with efficiently, we need less input of energy, we spend less money and we can get a better effect. The most important thing is: Don't pollute the world - we must save our beautiful, unique nature!
In 80´s Roman Susnik also made few HPS-s.
He says: “One of them was situated near my parent’s house. I made them because I wanted to save the energy and provide electricity for my house in case the main electric power station broke down.“
Transmission gears
In 80’s Roman Susnik also made transmission gears with 5 speeds. In that time cars had transmission gears with just four or less speeds. Nowdays we can find the cars with six gears forward and - it is common - one for reverse.
He says: “I improved the transmission gears on Zastava 101 and Yugo and added the fifth gear. I made about 150 transmission gears for five speeds between 1985 and 1987, and of course earned enough money to buy the building plot for my new house.”
House
He also designed and made his own house.
Stage scenes
Roman Susnik also made many stage scenes. He has done many stage scenes for theatres: Mladinsko gledališče, Cankarjev dom, Narodno gledališče; TV studios: RTV, opera, fashion creators, etc. Here are a few famous scenes:

Developing electric motors
Electric glider plane
Roman Susnik upgrated electric glider plane Apis with electric self lunch system. He also made some improvements on the canopy and propeller shape. He added retractable wheel instead fixed.
In 2004 kit version of Apis glider plane was upgrated. Besides developing an electric propulsion system, we also change the canopy design, made more effective inner ventilation, developed the retractable wheel with shock-absorber and many new designs for electric power system. The retractable wheel improves L/D = 41:1 and it also visually improves the stream line of the plane. The doors on the body are closed when the motor with the propeller is outside or inside of the fuselage. We also made a special trailer for Apis EA1.
For our first electric propulsion system we choose brush Lynch motor. We were flying with this brush propulsion system till 2008.
Because the brush motor was not enough powerful and reliable because the brushes were heating too much at higher power, we decided to develop brushless electric motor, which was very light and three time more powerful.
The second reason for motor development was, that there was no suitable electric motor in the world market for our application.
During the electric motor development, we developed 4 prototype motors:
1. Brushless EMRRAD 1 (March 2008)
Technical data:
- 30 KW at 1700 RPM
- Efficient 92%
- Weight: 13,2 kg
- Static thrust on glider was 125 kg with prop 1,8 m
The construction of tailor-made electric motor got issued with a patent.
Also, the EMRRAD could be suitable for EV, Boats, Wind or Hydroelectric power stations and for many other options.
2. Brushless EMRRAD 2 (air or liquid cooled) (September 2008)
EMRRAD 2 AC:
Technical data:
- 40 kW pick power (2min) / 30 kW constant power at 1900 RPM (air speed 25m/sec)
- Volt-bat: 200 V
- Max cont. motor current: 200 A/150Nm
- Weight: 13,2 kg
- Diameter/length: 217/117
EMRRAD 2 LC:
Technical data:
- 40 kW pick power (2min) / 32 kW constant power at 1900 RPM
- Volt-bat: 200 V
- Max bat current: 200 A
- Weight: 14,0 kg
- Diameter/length: 217/117
3. EMRAX PROTOTYPE 1 AC (in the end of 2008)
Technical data:
- 50 kW pick power (2min) / 40 kW constant power (2000 RPM at 200 V)
- Max bat current: 150 A
- Weight: 11 kg
- Diameter/length: 222/78
4. EMRAX PROTOTYPE 2 AC or LC IMPROVEMENTS (in the end 2009)
We made some latest improvements, before serial production of these motors (in the beginning of 2010).
We achieve our goal – we made the lightest and at the same time the most powerful electric motor in the world.
